Italy Photography Workshops

Italy Photography Workshops are designed to be a great vacation, a romantic getaway, an intimate look at Italian life and a mind-expanding photographic experience

Our Mission: To send you home with:

  • The best photographic images you've ever created.
  • An intimate look at Italy with local visits that tourist just don't get.
  • A major attitude adjustment, visually, romantically and culturally.

Our History:

Drake Busath has loved Italy since 1977 when he lived and worked for 2 years in Northern Italy. He returns every year to visit and get his "fix" of Italian images, cuisine and attitude adjustment. Drake claims no Italian blood and is no more than a visitor here, but one with a true passion for Italian culture.

In 1995, while photographing in Italy with friends, the idea arose of organizing a photography workshop there. The idea became a successful series of tours, photo workshops and cooking classes. ItalyWorkshops.com now celebrates it's 13th year, having hosted over 500 photographers and partners on this magical experience.

Michael Taylor and Helen Yancy, both known world-wide for their portrait skills, played a huge part in making this a successful venture, lending their famous names and considerable talents. Other great photographers have joined in as guest instructors; Tim & Bev Walden, Kevin Kubota, Michael Gilbert, Jeff Allred, Craig Strong, Randy Collier and Italian pro Luigi Barbano.

Luigi Barbano joins us again this year, providing cultural insights and always guiding us to the best restaurants. Luigi lives near Cuneo, Italy and works as a commercial/ industrial photographer. This will be his 5th year with our workshops.

In recent years, many have tried to imitate Italy Workshops with mixed results. Key to our success has been years of developing local relationships and local, village itineraries, so we spend less time on a bus, packing and unpacking, and more time experiencing and photographing the Italian lifestyle.
